Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NY

Situated on the parlor level of a Landmarked brownstone in Clinton Hill, this renovation sought to modernize and brighten up the space for a young family of three. Natural, sustainable materials were sourced, with an emphasis on local origins whenever possible.

The kitchen counters and integrated sink are honed, locally quarried soapstone. The cabinetry was painted blue-black to match, and the island is a contrasting white oak. The white zellige floors were laid in a pattern referential to the parquet flooring in the living room. The breakfast area includes a built-in bench made from the same white oak as the island and a custom table designed for the space. New doors with transom windows were added, leading to a new steel deck in the rear yard.
