This brownstone, the neighbor and twin sister of Putnam Townhouse, was a comprehensive gut renovation that involved recreating a large amount of period detail in a way that felt original to the house.
The project included moving the kitchen to the rear of the parlor floor, two new bathrooms on the top floor, a new powder room on the parlor floor, and a full bathroom on the ground floor. A glass accordion door was added to the rear of the garden level, to connect with the garden.
An experimental HVAC system was designed as part of a NYSERDA initiative that includes a rooftop unit that generates electricity from recovered exhaust heat.
